Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day: Understanding the grief of pet loss
As all pet owners know, we love our animals as family. So…
Transforming access to professional bereavement support.
Bereavement can deeply impact a persons ability to focus or complete tasks. As an employer, you’re in a unique position to be able to help them.
Could your university be doing more to support bereaved students?
We understand how grief can impact your relationships, your work and your own self-care.
At GriefChat, we believe professional bereavement support should always be accessible and free to those in need.
We support organisations in helping those dealing with grief by providing them with a safe space for bereaved people to be able to share their story, explore their feelings and be supported by a qualified bereavement counsellor. In addition to this, GriefChat can help bereaved people to consider if they need additional support and where to get this from…
GriefChat is open Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 21:00 (GMT). In those hours, we provide a live instant chat service with a qualified bereavement counsellor, through our partners, that is free-to-user.
You don’t need to face grief alone. We can help you to find one to one support either locally or remotely.
View or start an online In Memory page for a loved one, through GriefChat’s MuchLoved page.
You can provide professional bereavement support that is free and immediate for anyone in need, anywhere in the world.
“I found it easier writing and anonymously is easier too.”
“It’s great that there’s a place like this.”
“I didn’t feel like I could talk on the phone or in person. Chatting here has been good.”
“Thank you so much you have been so helpful, so kind and so understanding.”
“You have been very helpful and I’ve loved talking to you, so thank you.”
“I’m having a hard time with bereavement right now and I feel like I need to talk to someone.”
As all pet owners know, we love our animals as family. So…

John enjoys working in a person centred way, creating a safe and non judgmental space where all feelings are welcome.
A member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and a lifelong learner, John is studying a BSc in Psychology with Counselling. When not studying he enjoys reading and playing hide and seek with his dog. (She is much better at it than him!)

After attaining his Masters in Counselling in 2011 from the University of Nottingham. Tim spent time working with Cruse Bereavement Care in Nottingham as both a Bereavement Counsellor and then eventually a Supervisor between 2012-2018.
He has also worked with a variety of different organisations since his post-grad offering counselling to the 11-25-year-old age group in schools, face to face and online.
Tim believes strongly after his years of client work that grief and bereavement/pre bereavement are still widely misunderstood from a mental health and emotional wellbeing perspective in the various traumatic issues they can bring up, and feels that everyone whether they are 18 or 80+ should have the opportunity to reach out and access specific support during their most vulnerable times of loss and that in the long term it can benefit anyone to do so with the right amount of support.
When not online helping service users with their various processes related to grief and bereavement Tim can be found enjoying a good book, watching a documentary, or going for a nice walk in a rural setting somewhere.

Responding to the changes brought on by the pandemic Debs is building her private practice offering online accessibility moving away from face to face sessions. When not counselling Debs will be found undertaking her other job, that of a medical secretary which she has done for too many years to count. This brings another dimension to her counselling work.
